Here is my generic marines force, purposefully designed to be as "generic" as possible, allowing maximum flexibility to field a force from any of the codices. There's lots of magnets included in this force, with most of the weapons swappable in one way or another. You can see the slow and steady growth under the <a href="https://iron-legion.blogspot.com/search/label/one-force" target="_blank">One Force</a> label.</div>

As I mothball my blog I'm taking stock of my hobby and armies as they stand. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here at the end of 2018, this is my whole Necron army. What started off as a side project and a quick and easy army ended up being one of the most difficult as I had to customise every last model with electrical wire to replace the green rods in the original kit.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4PntskLfc-JYEn-AiaSSsEzBKFuDAzvIAuPJWjvC8Th3llZRcvsep8ya2KWpIqcVAGDbrVTslOwwFrll1qYdh3_FWIjgjTQ4SBzxHzClbDHcK16djfnpidklB7Ory1SSrppLeHV0M9B9P/s1600/P1090092-whole+low.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="841" data-original-width="1600" height="210" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4PntskLfc-JYEn-AiaSSsEzBKFuDAzvIAuPJWjvC8Th3llZRcvsep8ya2KWpIqcVAGDbrVTslOwwFrll1qYdh3_FWIjgjTQ4SBzxHzClbDHcK16djfnpidklB7Ory1SSrppLeHV0M9B9P/s400/P1090092-whole+low.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To my mind, a Necron army should always be about a horde of relentless, advancing warriors and I've tried to keep that in this army. I've got over 40 warriors that I take as many of as reasonable every time I play. In big units of ~20 they are amazingly resilient and it can be impressive to see almost half the unit return to life even if there's only one left on the battlefield.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwAYM7ddLRR1pmehvUTRYZClOFne6S0cnFEVhgNYhSW776Vmz9kLTgKaAVKzxjhiFjP51kWBO-Kh5xAB6wQp034cPTscixP1y_rH2qiQF6F9y73t1jz_Yy_IlUX7T_MkoDYVIa7KVruzbC/s1600/P1090096-whole+high.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1138" data-original-width="1600" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwAYM7ddLRR1pmehvUTRYZClOFne6S0cnFEVhgNYhSW776Vmz9kLTgKaAVKzxjhiFjP51kWBO-Kh5xAB6wQp034cPTscixP1y_rH2qiQF6F9y73t1jz_Yy_IlUX7T_MkoDYVIa7KVruzbC/s400/P1090096-whole+high.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Of course, there's also many of the new units that were released alongside the new 5th Ed codex, the Doomsday Ark is a personal favourite. Its not overly effective (although when the dice align it can really cause some damage), but it is a great <a href="https://1d4chan.org/wiki/DISTRACTION_CARNIFEX" target="_blank">distraction carnifex (NSFW)</a>. There's also the obligatory 3 Tomb Blades from the 7th Ed decurion formation (good times - not!).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXX62zPAsCnJj53IiNqdiZIYg_KRTH3zX6TGNEoJQotbJnIttaKjY7FssDCJogBfqJSwNuAqhB3hG7MNG7ouOPV5wedfD2fm7DUMISta0eNOA1Wihf9xiJjj-MHf-imZypi2yS1f8hPd45/s1600/P1090098-command+wide.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1191" data-original-width="1600" height="297" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXX62zPAsCnJj53IiNqdiZIYg_KRTH3zX6TGNEoJQotbJnIttaKjY7FssDCJogBfqJSwNuAqhB3hG7MNG7ouOPV5wedfD2fm7DUMISta0eNOA1Wihf9xiJjj-MHf-imZypi2yS1f8hPd45/s400/P1090098-command+wide.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To ensure the warriors can get back up, there's a slew of Crypteks built long before there were actual models from warrior bodies and a collection of random bits from other kits. There's also a Lord and Overlord model if nothing else for the options.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdzvwmW_IUfP52FfdaLo4VYHNyY1P2yrro4hD8h_efuTNPbuKDksdn5SAot4EvsL4-NxRa0159Cse2EtIVi_t8VseetBesPT1FUtarpKHG4qW4QgAL_ujN2G2ysekCy_-jF1A58rtqeuVK/s1600/P1090107-command.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1075" data-original-width="1600" height="268" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdzvwmW_IUfP52FfdaLo4VYHNyY1P2yrro4hD8h_efuTNPbuKDksdn5SAot4EvsL4-NxRa0159Cse2EtIVi_t8VseetBesPT1FUtarpKHG4qW4QgAL_ujN2G2ysekCy_-jF1A58rtqeuVK/s400/P1090107-command.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Central to it all is the C'Tan. Such an incredible model, the detail is really, really impressive with some very subtle details, including the outline of the feet on the back of the cloak as it hangs from the body, just like they've done for all the new Nighthaunt models.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3rtaU4AqkWqvUIBGdGJCCyHPfvTTddzOjRTpRkvNh2e00fuo6E84DKiBtY_OU656vmw9qiMOVpodZa34MfZ1NGBs5sCLCfPmNkIonmLD1evr38I84nmHA05NRMSQI2lxWmTywNGsOda6Y/s1600/P1090108-flayed+ones.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1220" data-original-width="1600" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3rtaU4AqkWqvUIBGdGJCCyHPfvTTddzOjRTpRkvNh2e00fuo6E84DKiBtY_OU656vmw9qiMOVpodZa34MfZ1NGBs5sCLCfPmNkIonmLD1evr38I84nmHA05NRMSQI2lxWmTywNGsOda6Y/s400/P1090108-flayed+ones.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Oh Flay-ed One, oh Flay-ed Ones, how quickly falls the flesh from thee! (well it is nearly Christmas ;)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I don't think I've every really got these into combat, but they are really lovely models, and so much more sinister than the newer versions which look a little silly to my mind. Again, these have tiny little details like spikes on which the flesh is stretched from that you never see until you are painting them. Whoever was sculpting the Necrons back in the day really knew what they were about.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhySoR0fKpRllbevUGKTwYz91dZf-_N-QGC_FNbuH8hZZ81-k81aQDyzsmR6GkOFfhdeWKWId7O6JijW5VHBZmA384mesBjLUClDp6ej7h3TYikCT3yz7OCZhIFysc8pDPXfw8nEdwgaiJP/s1600/P1090109-destroyers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1040" data-original-width="1600" height="260" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhySoR0fKpRllbevUGKTwYz91dZf-_N-QGC_FNbuH8hZZ81-k81aQDyzsmR6GkOFfhdeWKWId7O6JijW5VHBZmA384mesBjLUClDp6ej7h3TYikCT3yz7OCZhIFysc8pDPXfw8nEdwgaiJP/s400/P1090109-destroyers.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My Destroyers. In my ongoing war against the green plastic rod, I used a length of coat-hanger to form the core and then 4 lengths of electrical wire to build up a much larger "flow of energy" between the body of the gun and the emitter. Of all the models, they may be the ones I'm most pleased with in the army.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQhkxFQiMBG_Xh8il7EXR8jKoi3qW6BCDkRuS_cIluCifgX_gvvAlxQIG6bgZEfJngRiIbm68hiGUZvXStDu2EsON00VQ50Ajqv7rLMzWiTQ4jpkCtKL86XOq0sQP1q_arEF66FhoXEUA_/s1600/P1090110-Immortals.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="882" data-original-width="1600" height="220" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQhkxFQiMBG_Xh8il7EXR8jKoi3qW6BCDkRuS_cIluCifgX_gvvAlxQIG6bgZEfJngRiIbm68hiGUZvXStDu2EsON00VQ50Ajqv7rLMzWiTQ4jpkCtKL86XOq0sQP1q_arEF66FhoXEUA_/s400/P1090110-Immortals.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So that's the army. I may add to it in the future if I find there's something I want, but in general it works just as I want it to at the moment. It's nice to just have an army that is ready, and functions at various different power levels.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
It can't escape the notice of any poor sod who's still checking that posting has pretty much ceased here. This is down to various factors, a big part being my own changing personal circumstances, and how much (or rather little) time I can give to the hobby. That which I have I am plowing 100% into actual hobby and so this place takes a back seat.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Considering its just hit such a milestone, I've taken the difficult decision that I'm going to mothball the blog. I plan to do a couple of posts to wrap things up over the next few weeks, but that'll be it for the foreseeable future. Should life ever return to a situation where I can support this again I may return but I offer no promises...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://bemorewithless.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/iStock_000009472573XSmall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="282" data-original-width="425" height="212" src="https://bemorewithless.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/iStock_000009472573XSmall.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I won't be completely lost from the hobby blogosphere however, my very good friends and primary gaming group, <a href="http://beardbunker.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">The Beard Bunker</a>, have agreed to allow me to join them as a contributor to their much more excellent site, so anyone who even remembers my ramblings and would like to see more are strongly recommended to head on over that way and add them to whatever site aggregator you use.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'll be back in the not too distant future with those wrapping up posts.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In the meantime - toodle-pip and all that!</div>

I just got a bunch of these wound tracker dials. I think they are a much nicer design than the dice from GW.<br />
<br />
I already have magnets on the inside of the hull of my planes, from magnetising the stand on. Now I can stick a dial on. I will certainly be sticking magnets on the inside of the hull of future vehicles.<br />
<br />
More info on how the flight stands are attached: <a href="http://iron-legion.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/250-magnetising-flying-stand.html">http://iron-legion.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/250-magnetising-flying-stand.html</a><br />
<br />
I found the tracker dials on www.ebay.co.uk. Search for "pyrkol wound".ColonelFazackerleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07132504979791884847noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2366843725801773548.post-88661902698559996682018-01-01T15:44:00.000+00:002018-01-01T15:44:40.944+00:00288: Striking Scorpions of the Occulted Claw Shrine<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<i>I'm not dead....</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>I've just had a somewhat busy year and after the flurry of posts leading up to the conflict at <a href="http://iron-legion.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/j%27migan-bridge" target="_blank">J'migan Bridge</a> (reminder, I must write up the battle sometime) I've not really had much of a chance to look in here.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>I have however been taking part in a very fun <a href="http://beardbunker.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Campaign%20Narrative" target="_blank">Battlefleet Gothic based roleplay</a> set in <a href="http://beardbunker.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Scyrian%20Expanse" target="_blank">Scyrian Expanse</a> the with some of the guys from the <a href="http://beardbunker.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Beard Bunker</a>.</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>I'm playing Hassiq Betancourt-Xing, a Rogue Trader who's not been having much luck (all thanks to my pesky family) who has set his sails (or perhaps that should be engines) for the edge of known space to see if he can't improve his lot. We've got ourselves into a number of scrapes already, and much like Laius Ortano (or Jon as I sometimes call him), I'm going to be chronicling our adventures in the form of a journal (<a href="http://beardbunker.blogspot.co.uk/2017/06/captains-log-i.html" target="_blank">part 1</a> and <a href="http://beardbunker.blogspot.co.uk/2017/09/captains-log-ii.html" target="_blank">part 2</a>) in character.</i></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I really should try and keep this updated somewhat more. Oh well, if wishes were Astartes...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Isn’t this just a turn-up for the books. After being constantly blocked by my so called “family”, jealous of how I’m doing, I might have just struck gold by finally getting out from under their overbearing presence. I’ve only gone and found myself on the edge of Imperial space, lining up with a Naval escort, and a whole series of repairs on the Imperium’s tab. I knew my luck would turn eventually.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I’m finally reaping my rewards. They just couldn’t stand the fact I’d married into BXK, had to work my way up through the ranks. I mean it was a whole decade before they allowed me command of one of their ships, disgraeful! Its not like the Zen is much of a ship either, its swallowed almost everything I’ve made just to keep her spaceworthy, no-one really understands just how much it costs to keep a ship in the sky, they all think its swanning around and doing whatever you want. Anyway, that’s not the point.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Xephone seems like an acceptable place. I wouldn’t want to spend too much time here, very provincial, and a bit of a mess after they let the Orkoid get out of hand. They say they’ve got things sorted now - I’ll believe it when I see it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We popped over to the Intemperance for a welcome dinner. Its a little sparse on those naval vessels, but they did their best and put on a passable spread. There was plenty of ‘sec at least, although I might have to keep a tighter leash on Antono in future, he was getting far too chatty with one of their female captains. Captain Ortano… Captain, or was it Commodore, who knows? Anyway, Ortano seems a bit green, but apparently he was the one who sorted out the Orkoid, so he can’t be all that bad. Where was I. Oh yes, Ortano seems like an alright chap, some decent chat, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of success with him along.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyway, that’s me for the night. Might have had a little too much of that ‘sec myself. Must remember to show them a proper party sometime. We’re off exploring tomorrow. Venka said she’d have selected the most promising system in the local area by the morning.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
P.S.: Must remember to keep Sifira away from the navy boys in future. I think she may have “left and impression” on that Gunnery Sergeant (Barnabus I think his name was), and not in that way mind you. I don’t doubt she probably gave away a bit too much about the true condition of the Zen, she was bending his ear pretty much the whole night, and spent far too much time pointing to that pad with our list of needs. She can be a bit too efficient at times.</div>

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned previously that I didn't like the aesthetic of the real models, something about Space Marines in armour donning a second suit of armour just to tout big guns didn't really do it for me. These are the Mechanicum Kataphron Destroyers with marine heads and backpacks. It was a super simple conversion.<br />
They're mounted onto 50mm bases (which I'm pretty sure is what marine destroyers come with) so you can see they aren't too dissimilar is size for gaming - a little shorter, but wider.<br />
Eventually I need to figure out a way to model their secondary weapons (either missile launchers or hurricane bolters), but that'll be an addition for another time.<br />
<br />
I'm sure they'll die horribly and do absolutely nothing in their first game, such is the life of any new shiny model ;)Andrewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15714018172674498741noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2366843725801773548.post-32198780232014972042017-01-12T12:15:00.000+00:002017-01-12T12:15:57.238+00:00284: J'migan bridge part 4<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The text, in case you can't read it in the images:<br />
<div>
<br />
<br />
<blockquote>
The young warrior stepped up to the portal, and the doors swung open. A wave of heat washed across all those gathered to witness and honour this moment. Little could be seen of what lay within, only a dull red glow, but silhouetted by the glow, a great blade and a clawed fist could just about be made out.<br />
The warrior showed no signs of hesitation as he stepped across the threshold, and none could feel any fear or trepidation within his aura. There was only pride at his being chosen, curiosity; and a desire, or perhaps a lust for the destruction that would be wrought.<br />
The doors closed as the warrior continued to proceed into the chamber. While to those outside it seemed as if the chamber was only a few metres deep, before the doors finally closed it appeared as if the warrior had walked a far greater distance. There was no sounds as the doors sealed, but it was noticeable by the sudden reduction in temperature in the gallery.<br />
Without the need for any more signal, all those gathered rested onto their knees, and the communion began. Every person there was fully attired for battle, with only their helms removed, and some had not even left those off. They could sense the anger and hatred of each other, that a world of their own had been defiled so, reduced to a dusty plain what had once been a lush and verdant planet. There was also hunger and desire to bring retribution to those that had caused such destruction. It bordered on anger, but each fought to restrain themselves from such feelings for if they could not, there was every chance that they would be lost to it for ever more and their existence as a part of their craftworld would cease after this day.<br />
The Seers and Warlocks, those closest to the chambers, channelled and directed these feelings and their psychic resonance within the matrix of the craftworld. Shaping thought and feeling as if it were clay, directing it as if it were flowing water. All was channelled into the chamber to which the young warrior had entered, to manifest a being who would be an embodiment of the Eldar’s call to war, to awaken a shard of the god Khaela Mensha Khaine.<br />
Time passed. It may have been minutes, hours, or days. Lost in the communion, none were truly aware of exactly how much time had passed. However long it was, none were truly prepared for the psychic backlash that pulsed from the chamber as a god was awakened. All felt the final moments of the young warriors existence as the battle lust of an entire species washed through his body, tearing his mind and body apart as the very fabric of the craftworld took form around and in him. It ended thankfully as the young warrior looked down to see clawed fist as it started to reach into his chest.<br />
Every member of the warhost was knocked to the floor by the backlash, and were only just managing to pick themselves up as the portal opened. The wave of heat that spilled from the chamber was a 1000 times as intense, and with it came a heightened lust for battle, as if the heat were anger made manifest. The glow within the chamber was far brighter, but no longer diffuse, the blade and clawed fist were no longer suspended in mid air within the chamber, but had become part of a giant figure who was now the source of the glow. Its eyes opened and they shone out. It took its first stride from the chamber and where its hoofed foot touched the wraithbone of the craftworld it blackened and smoked as it was burned by the heat.<br />
The Avatar of Khaela Mensha Khaine had awakened, the Eldar would go to war...</blockquote>

At last. I don't even want to think about how long its taken me to get to this point but I've finally finished painting my initial batch of One Force marines.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Without further ado, here's my Mk III Iron Armoured squad. They are built with combi-weapons that come from Anvil Industries, with the top level of the weapon interchangeable so I can swap in meltas, plasma, or even grav options with minimal extra painting.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV-oITirtkCxGU2ZInWvv_P09YQCbHuKy2GY4NT7PpdrdjfxxYvVUVfaibta4Ga_Jf_0-xIo8XoYEm-cHPtlDR4iqSD4pNLVKi3ZXnt5lwOMe85v0LB_5JYz6lWmesoRFHPnkALcPuKU9i/s1600/P1080449_cl.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="174" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV-oITirtkCxGU2ZInWvv_P09YQCbHuKy2GY4NT7PpdrdjfxxYvVUVfaibta4Ga_Jf_0-xIo8XoYEm-cHPtlDR4iqSD4pNLVKi3ZXnt5lwOMe85v0LB_5JYz6lWmesoRFHPnkALcPuKU9i/s640/P1080449_cl.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The squad is a mix of the Iron Hands squad and the Legion Mk III squad from Forgeworld (no cheating plastic Mk III here ;), and they are beautiful models with lots of bionics which fits nicely into the One Force aesthetic.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
As elites within One Force, they are painted up in a slightly alternate, predominately black colour scheme highlighted with greens and then with spot colours of the One Force trifecta of camo-green, grey, and desert yellow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I'm also deviating somewhat from my original One Force paint job (which will of course require a repaint of everything thats come before) to include some metallics into the scheme. Ho hum.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

After finally finishing off the Mk III marines (post to come when I get some decent photos), I pulled these out and couldn't quite believe how quickly they painted up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAnY-oi775sAVe33neyhlrtcSX2cm6XDZiQrSNfin2IMMmLyK1HxSRHIGmjkVOxvR-FP8QOK-Z3KjD2oPM6F3mckNrwA1mKsUUGc1FTQhMsvJvwWa6OoUHNqUU0YIN9HjzCpGbdAPv-2-I/s1600/P1080444_cl.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="347" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAnY-oi775sAVe33neyhlrtcSX2cm6XDZiQrSNfin2IMMmLyK1HxSRHIGmjkVOxvR-FP8QOK-Z3KjD2oPM6F3mckNrwA1mKsUUGc1FTQhMsvJvwWa6OoUHNqUU0YIN9HjzCpGbdAPv-2-I/s640/P1080444_cl.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>A nice and basic job, a little bit of wash to give definition to the panel lines, and a gentle, light drybrush to highlight the grey. Greens were also drybrushed for highlighting. A couple of spot colours for the missiles and lenses and they're pretty much done.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj7gSF3_cOTcM7WcOmEiSgcCe5HRCiRL0H5NJzeCErj12KOAOgusa7b8p4ZfzkHn2mVBnA7AkyZ3o_Y7ov6J1c6zVTE858YvXvMOnu54wM3FoKo4Kxjb6ugpBEsf-fxE2BPBr_E9UWuZOn/s1600/P1080445_cl.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj7gSF3_cOTcM7WcOmEiSgcCe5HRCiRL0H5NJzeCErj12KOAOgusa7b8p4ZfzkHn2mVBnA7AkyZ3o_Y7ov6J1c6zVTE858YvXvMOnu54wM3FoKo4Kxjb6ugpBEsf-fxE2BPBr_E9UWuZOn/s640/P1080445_cl.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I've tried to do my usual simple pilot painting technique of a light drybrush over black, then tinted with a wash. I recently found a load of my old paints including the original inks so I tried the green ink (left) versus the current green wash (right). Its incredible the difference both in tone, and level of coverage.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpZkeAltGOM4GvtuRYURUa3x3l5gG9qlra_MwH9nGA38hDR-DckrWaPuOVDXwdyVTPQAJA_dI9vnlvRqEY4th6JDIIXLsqz0YeHByZHFCINs8gaOpjTR_6ddU_8KSx_VtCwwZk9kZcRBHZ/s1600/P1080447_cl.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="206" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpZkeAltGOM4GvtuRYURUa3x3l5gG9qlra_MwH9nGA38hDR-DckrWaPuOVDXwdyVTPQAJA_dI9vnlvRqEY4th6JDIIXLsqz0YeHByZHFCINs8gaOpjTR_6ddU_8KSx_VtCwwZk9kZcRBHZ/s640/P1080447_cl.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Looking at the pictures, as always, I've spotted a couple of details that are in need of correction. There's also the issue of the cockpit covers - I've obviously managed to misplace these while awaiting painting so I'll sort those out when I find them. In the meantime, its soft-top Storm Talons.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicsO55XfBo7_fr0syLB2EytX03GaRarQudsIdrER0bQntrzUkDk-DIaDsnS9d95XkcM6WVTeguAmuRvPPLWnxgI2PYt_4TLdjVYwfBag8VmhNjiEsVNQWw5ZNFRN5-WYgEzlauOm97WY46/s1600/wheres-wally-2b-zoom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicsO55XfBo7_fr0syLB2EytX03GaRarQudsIdrER0bQntrzUkDk-DIaDsnS9d95XkcM6WVTeguAmuRvPPLWnxgI2PYt_4TLdjVYwfBag8VmhNjiEsVNQWw5ZNFRN5-WYgEzlauOm97WY46/s640/wheres-wally-2b-zoom.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So now that Wally is out in public, it raises some more questions:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Does Wally only run with the World Eaters?</li>
<li>Has he been hidden in any other dioramas in the intervening 4 years?</li>
<li>Will Forgeworld release rules for Wally so we can finally include him in our games?</li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I look forward to hearing about any other sightings there may have been.</div>
<div>
Cheers</div>

Bahzhakhain is the term used on Biel-Tan for a battle host ("Tempest of blades").<br />

Wotcher. I have yet more eldar completed. These leggy fellows should get their first outing in a couple of days.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaw4QUI_B4ILF7l0SALc7CzaDTTueSFZnAMmWmiDLXkeWXc8HnWvUZiJFNJ1A6JrsrXPTx2e330FPaK56fwdNriJuk2xT5V8Bc5E8zs5hFuXQu-Sdu2rXVlbep6TUg9BMvlF37Uroh69Sh/s1600/composite600.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaw4QUI_B4ILF7l0SALc7CzaDTTueSFZnAMmWmiDLXkeWXc8HnWvUZiJFNJ1A6JrsrXPTx2e330FPaK56fwdNriJuk2xT5V8Bc5E8zs5hFuXQu-Sdu2rXVlbep6TUg9BMvlF37Uroh69Sh/s1600/composite600.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They are built straight out of the box without much tweaking. They come with scenic bases. I did feel the need to hack bits off and add patches of cracked earth in different places so they were not all the same.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The guns are magnetised. Indeed, they are identical to the guardian squad's heavy weapon platform guns. I painted up so many of those that I have not bothered to paint the guns that came with the walkers.</div>
<br />ColonelFazackerleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07132504979791884847noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2366843725801773548.post-24167716420794031222016-11-06T13:54:00.000+00:002016-11-06T13:54:07.671+00:00274: Bikes<div style="text-align: justify;">
Progress! Hopefully not the last either. I'm back and with One Force marines no less. Here's my latest addition, a trio of bikers to add into my force to help me on the way to running one of the new Codex Space Marine formations.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4awuna3bqdY8a-T8eQnuKUfkgl7nOr9MVyn6Pk-dPTvNyP1y1Saumx14RATPYaI_N2QYY0Mt9SXYIKytu8T8kXBL2grYQBfMYB6RMZAuW3qfZe7WfLWv2j8krAxnvroWojzPEPJciHAa6/s1600/IMAG2132_bikes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4awuna3bqdY8a-T8eQnuKUfkgl7nOr9MVyn6Pk-dPTvNyP1y1Saumx14RATPYaI_N2QYY0Mt9SXYIKytu8T8kXBL2grYQBfMYB6RMZAuW3qfZe7WfLWv2j8krAxnvroWojzPEPJciHAa6/s640/IMAG2132_bikes.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The two slightly drunk bikers are taken from the Dark Vengence set, bodies replaced with more generic marine torso's (One Force are a spartan chapter after all), and Volkite Calivers for weapons. As these don't appear in 40K, I can reasonably claim them to be grav-weapons for the purposes of running them as filthy grav-bikers. The Sergeant gets the standard yellow helm, and a combi-grav which is a DIY combination of a Volkite Caliver and a bolter from Anvil Industries.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These also mark a slight change in my painting technique for One Force. Previously I've completely avoided the use of metallics in their colour scheme, but on reflection (its only taken my 40+ models), I've decided to change their weapons and a few other details to metallic and give them black weapons housings. This'll be applied to all of the models going forward, and potentially retro-applied to the older models.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've not weathered the models yet because that is another aspect I'll be changing going forward, but I haven't had a chance to experiment yet.</div>

I painted all 3 gun options for the artillery. It's a nicely designed kit in that no magnets are needed. The guns sit on a block, and can be slid on. It's just snug enough.ColonelFazackerleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07132504979791884847noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2366843725801773548.post-13885553036760104102016-09-04T20:09:00.000+01:002016-12-13T13:47:27.010+00:00272: Guardian hordeI chose Eldar because they are an elite army. Luther shows off his lovely models at <a href="http://www.themightybrush.com/">the might brush</a>.<br />

He teamed up his new knight, Gerantius, with his Blood Angels.<br />

I have mostly Iron Knights (Imperial Fist successors), and some Eldar, which I am expanding.<br />

We played Big Guns Never Tire with diagonal deployment. I have Thunderhammer terminators up front and a rhino with a full tac squad behind. Castling up in the corner, I have a lascannon dev squad on the hill with a bunch of sneaky eldar hiding behind it. They are joined by a master of the forge on a bike with a conversion beamer. I have a bike squad with grav and multi melta attack bike next. My cloak and sniper scouts infiltrated and scout moved into the ruin. I have a Crimson Death (3 plane Eldar formation) in reserve.<br />

Andrew mentioned to me that airbrush medium (AKA thinner) is handy stuff. I was looking for a lazy way to shade an orangey yellow on my guardians sashes. I mixed some airbrush medium with some orange, and used it like a wash over some yellow.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwuOsClWI4_HC9YjTeWiLcsDH6lR5PpT-ngTfeDOabplt8c9C39qSd0lxHdjkWfjJtNh7i2R6WDyoRtYrkkOXfhH0ogE32nM4A0L_XEg_S5sSU6_-2G90MEZ8bThbHXjm0GXW_hjcQJAkF/s1600/IMG_20160805_085938.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwuOsClWI4_HC9YjTeWiLcsDH6lR5PpT-ngTfeDOabplt8c9C39qSd0lxHdjkWfjJtNh7i2R6WDyoRtYrkkOXfhH0ogE32nM4A0L_XEg_S5sSU6_-2G90MEZ8bThbHXjm0GXW_hjcQJAkF/s320/IMG_20160805_085938.jpg" width="287" /></a></div>
This was quick and I think it worked well.<br />
<br />
The glaze is thin in the sense that it has low viscosity and in the sense that it is see through. Note <a href="http://handcannononline.com/blog/2011/09/09/tutorial-basics-glazed-over-washes-and-glazing/">the difference </a>between a glaze and a wash. This is on the border.<br />
<br />
For my first go, I tried adding some retardant too: don't! For the first time, I managed to make some paint that never dries. The airbrush medium is quite slow drying anyway.<br />
<br />
I wonder if airbrush medium plus grey might be a solution for the tricky problem of shading white.<br />

Hey everyone, actual painting progress has occurred!</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now that you are all over the shock, to the pictures. These are two of the Eldar flyers, Wraithfighters I think they are called, that I've been painting for Zzzzzzzz who blogs over at <a href="http://devos4.blogspot.co.uk/">Devos IV</a>. </div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
They will join his growing <a href="http://devos4.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Void%20Dragons">Void Dragons</a> force.</div>
<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ4sbi42zQTJkdv7JIZspn44JTFvyeSTnWiJQL8h5Q6eictcbrlKeEjWvphst3iUVcuGweDnZUWjHSsC255tCcYv7xCGLcs4tV5W49EBnJ7EAOpeJCGXaS6JHoUD_fJrBhdRFt1LtcdIo-/s1600/P1070361-cl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ4sbi42zQTJkdv7JIZspn44JTFvyeSTnWiJQL8h5Q6eictcbrlKeEjWvphst3iUVcuGweDnZUWjHSsC255tCcYv7xCGLcs4tV5W49EBnJ7EAOpeJCGXaS6JHoUD_fJrBhdRFt1LtcdIo-/s640/P1070361-cl.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I can't claim any credit for the paint-scheme, that comes from Zzzzzzz, although every one of those hexagons is free-hand painted with two stages of highlighting. The colour is a beautiful metallic red that is a mix of Mephiston Red and Hashut Copper as devised by <a href="http://piratevikingpainting.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/warp-hunters.html">Pirate Viking Painting</a>, and the technique I used to create the hexagons is explained brilliantly in <a href="http://piratevikingpainting.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/the-hornets-nest.html">this blogpost</a>.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Otherwise its just standard metallics, greys, and although they aren't visible in these pictures, the weapons and wraithbone was all done in a pretty standard bone colour pushed all they way close to white. The weapons were magnetised at Zzzzzz's request, you can see them attached in <a href="http://devos4.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/more-eldar-air-power.html">his blogpost</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cheers</div>

If there is air in the bottle can start to cure in there. Perhaps there is air in from the factory. I have had this when I half used a bottle and then left it a few years. Lumps come through and block the brush.<br />
<br />
First, give the lid a thorough clean with some pipe cleaners.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLf46UCzWaVzzPPHMx3nFKf8gZSaE2cV6aNBv2siXDTb66wTjfFsSS50p6e3ue3B5ZMmcoRa2wytaWB5BVyC454glqRfExxM6kPXOJX_cZfRuAYqRFdgLVcV4v4-E17zOq71kxGnAawKH0/s1600/IMG_20160602_121115.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLf46UCzWaVzzPPHMx3nFKf8gZSaE2cV6aNBv2siXDTb66wTjfFsSS50p6e3ue3B5ZMmcoRa2wytaWB5BVyC454glqRfExxM6kPXOJX_cZfRuAYqRFdgLVcV4v4-E17zOq71kxGnAawKH0/s320/IMG_20160602_121115.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Prepare your bottle like it's going to rob a bank with some tights (I believe pantyhose is the US term). <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOr7_gy4h8uGWpz55rBw4-UIzelm348Owfa8ip3qNH8zMK0ihQ_87f_HiM4RWOZNupF0UjRfBEEeyYsobf1MXSkykxqEkGx6S2oYXnUSHGapz2zF7EuxpUUF_RTXjHRufWFgIp5ci7lgMw/s1600/IMG_20160602_121309.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOr7_gy4h8uGWpz55rBw4-UIzelm348Owfa8ip3qNH8zMK0ihQ_87f_HiM4RWOZNupF0UjRfBEEeyYsobf1MXSkykxqEkGx6S2oYXnUSHGapz2zF7EuxpUUF_RTXjHRufWFgIp5ci7lgMw/s320/IMG_20160602_121309.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Screw the lid over the top.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3jXWTlXOAjz0cjlny6r_3WSTrrzZHHLTq-i68eRE6KYijnqlIWgS6wb6Bbbrn_DUHdyrNGmOLk-TH2emMcFyXrKBabv9pW7o2X5aWmFyGu7-BUxuuSe1QTtJLQW0bdcj-vg2tWy5ebJh3/s1600/IMG_20160602_121338.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3jXWTlXOAjz0cjlny6r_3WSTrrzZHHLTq-i68eRE6KYijnqlIWgS6wb6Bbbrn_DUHdyrNGmOLk-TH2emMcFyXrKBabv9pW7o2X5aWmFyGu7-BUxuuSe1QTtJLQW0bdcj-vg2tWy5ebJh3/s320/IMG_20160602_121338.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Trim the hosiery. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyVgCCPD-nK2mNHHU3Jleqgg-6B8Ju87Nv89KFEQzIBUQCiFXplSEdczpUsK8QaJ6bgzTxEG0RQ5XuF0EPH3LIzy9u4GO7bUppqS1JA51yLGQcFpGl_o_wKWeFQQ_lnDgNstVqObEY-te2/s1600/IMG_20160602_121535.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyVgCCPD-nK2mNHHU3Jleqgg-6B8Ju87Nv89KFEQzIBUQCiFXplSEdczpUsK8QaJ6bgzTxEG0RQ5XuF0EPH3LIzy9u4GO7bUppqS1JA51yLGQcFpGl_o_wKWeFQQ_lnDgNstVqObEY-te2/s320/IMG_20160602_121535.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The newly installed filter will prevent lumps escaping the bottle.<br />
<br />
I intend to do this pre-emptively on all bottles I have opened. Just as soon as the Mrs gets some more ladders. (I don't look fabulous in hosiery).<br />

We've seen: <br />
<ul>
<li>the release of "Start and Army" bundles with actual savings </li>
<li>the re-introduction of Facebook groups for GW, Forgeworld, and Black Library </li>
<li>the tantalising possibility of the re-release of perenial fan favourites like Blood Bowl and Battlefleet Gothic </li>
<li>now we've had the call for questions and release of an FAQ that actually seems to answer real questions with actually thought out responses that while perhaps not perfect, definitely look like they are trying </li>

You can hardly argue that GW isn't trying to become a new company and one that so many of us have been clamouring for for many, many years. What strikes me is that a lot of this seems to coincide with the stepping down of Tom Kirby as Chairman of GW. As of 1st January 2015, Tom Kirby was no longer in charge of the direction of GW and if what I suppose is true, GW made this change just in time. While Kirby was perhaps a necessary evil when he first took the helm, his drive for profits over community involvement and seeming impression that GW was infallible was producing a truly poisonous relationship between company and customer.<br />

I've been so pleased to see the changes in GW, and look forward to whats coming in the future if they continue this course.Andrewhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15714018172674498741noreply@blogger.com1
